New Collection of Private Islands Brings Adventure and Relaxation to the Ultimate Level
Vacation time is a true treasure, and today travelers have more opportunities than ever to spend it. Primarily, consumers are willing to pay for the experiences and emotions they gain from their time spent. Knowing this, Royal Caribbean International is investing billions in creating the next generation of cruise liners with the most advanced features, which offer the brightest, most memorable moments worth experiencing and repeating.
The private island CocoCay will welcome vacationers in 2024
A cruise is much more than just a vacation on a luxurious liner. In one of its boldest projects, Royal Caribbean is redefining cruise vacations with its new Perfect Day Island Collection, which features exclusive private islands around the world. The first gem of this collection, the Perfect Day program at CocoCay, is a $200 million transformation of a private island in the Bahamas Archipelago, set to be a highlight destination for Caribbean cruises. Key features include:
- Thrill Waterpark features two magnificent water towers and 13 slides. Visitors can experience the 40-meter “Daredevil’s Peak,” the tallest water slide in North America. Additionally, the waterpark offers the largest pool in the Caribbean and a special children’s pool.
- Oasis Lagoon is the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean, featuring a swim-up bar and comfortable loungers.
- A 490-meter zip line that runs 15 meters above the island, allowing you to land directly in the pool after your flight.
- The “Up, Up and Away” helium balloon floats 140 meters above the ground, offering the highest vantage point across all the Bahamian islands.
- Two special beach relaxation options are available. The first is Chill Island, boasting the longest beach line, untouched crystal-clear tropical waters, pristine soft white sand, and everything needed for a comfortable rest. The second innovation, South Beach, is a haven for active leisure enthusiasts. It features full-scale courts for volleyball, beach basketball, and soccer. Additionally, you can enjoy boat rides while admiring the surrounding views or take a ride in a helium balloon.
- Enjoy exclusive relaxation at Coco Beach Club, where the first overwater bungalows and cottages on the Bahamian islands will be created.
You can experience all the benefits of Perfect Day at CocoCay on Royal Caribbean ships departing from ports in New York, Maryland, and Florida. The island’s transformation will be phased: a new pier will be built by September 2018, and by spring 2019, most of the island’s infrastructure will be open to vacationers. The final phase will include the creation of Coco Beach Club, slated for completion by November 2019. In the future, new islands in Asia, Australia, and the Caribbean will also undergo significant transformations.
Michael Bayley, President of Royal Caribbean International, said, “Our ships are marvels of engineering and technology, offering a wealth of unique and unforgettable experiences on their own. But the destinations we visit are just as important a part of the cruise experience.” He added, “We’ve introduced the Perfect Day Island Collection so our guests can experience the most vivid sensations, a true gift for all adventurers on land and aboard our ships. Once completed, Perfect Day at CocoCay will become a key destination for our Caribbean itineraries
The modernized fleet of Royal Caribbean features innovations on every deck
Royal Caribbean recently announced many updates in the infrastructure of its liners, including various digital technologies, a brand new mobile application, cabin equipment upgrades, and more. The company is now investing $900 million in a new innovation program called Royal Amplified. Over four years, this program will upgrade 10 ships, touching on all aspects of guest service and introducing a wide range of new features, capabilities, and experiences.
Guests can look forward to new infrastructure facilities, a refreshed approach to dining and nightlife on board, many of which will be unique in their own right. One such innovation is the Sky Pad, a virtual world for cruisers. The Royal Amplified program reflects the company’s passion for innovation and development, its meticulous attention to detail, and its commitment to providing the best vacation experience in the world.
Constant development and improvement
The rapid growth in popularity of cruises with Royal Caribbean has led to the company being awarded the title of Cruise Line of the Year in the 29th annual EquiTrend study by Harris Poll. This accolade confirms the effectiveness of its strategic choices, decision-making fidelity, and customer recognition. Today, travelers increasingly opt for shorter vacations, and Royal Caribbean meets this demand by offering short-term excursions around the Caribbean, setting a new standard for quality leisure time. This success is largely due to the unique character of the company’s cruise ships, which evolve and upgrade along with the brand.
In the summer of 2018, the Mariner of the Seas liner is set for a $90 million modernization. Post-upgrade, it will offer new thrilling experiences, including the unique Sky Pad attraction, the “Bamboo Room” lounge, a retro lounge with a special atmosphere and decor, and the lively Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade. The renovated Mariner will conduct 3 and 4-day cruises from Miami and Florida. Its sister ship, Navigator of the Seas, will undergo an even more extensive modernization in 2019, after which it will operate alongside the Mariner of the Seas on short cruise routes. Starting in 2019, both ships will play a key role in transporting vacationers to the new Perfect Day at CocoCay program.
New ships and a new class of ships
Starting in April 2018, the liner Symphony of the Seas will not only be the largest cruise ship in the world but also the best option for family vacations. Post-renovation, Symphony will feature many new enhancements: a new cabin category called the Ultimate Family Suite, new restaurants, unusual entertainment options, thrilling adventures, and unique shows. Simultaneously, Royal Caribbean is preparing for the debut of new ships and their upgraded classes:
- Spectrum of the Seas, a Quantum Ultra Class ship, represents the evolution of the Quantum class and is set to debut in 2019. In 2020, the second ship of this class will be launched into service.
- By 2021, the fifth ship of the popular Oasis class will be launched.
- Icon, a fundamentally new class of ships, will be launched in 2022 and 2024. Both ships will be powered by liquefied natural gas and fuel cells.
