Typically, the easiest route from Ukraine to Mauritius is a connecting flight to Dubai. Although there are other options. For example, with a transfer in Europe to Mauritius, you can fly “Air Mauritius”, “Air France”, “British Airways”, “Lufthansa” and so on.
International Airport Sir Sivusagar Ramgulam – Mauritius’ only international airport – is located near the town of Mayburg, just 46 km southeast of the island’s capital, Port Louis.
The airport is based on the national carrier Air Mauritius, which operates a network of routes to neighboring islands, and also operates direct flights to some cities in Africa, Australia, Asia and Europe.
The current airport terminal – Terminal 2 – is a two-storey building with large outdoor parking. Departures are made from the second floor of the building, arrivals are made mainly on the ground floor. Only passengers are allowed in the terminal building, so there is no infrastructure other than duty-free boutiques at the airport. One shop is located in the departure area, the other is intended for arriving passengers.
Travel across Mauritius
Air Mauritius operates daily flights from Mauritius to the island of Rodriguez (under the jurisdiction of Mauritius): 500 km can be reached in an hour with little. You can also get there (as well as the Society Islands) by ferry.
The most economical, but not the fastest way to travel around the island is by bus. The network of their routes is very large, the buses themselves are in good condition, and some even have air conditioning. Fare depends on the distance, tickets are issued directly in the cabin conductor.
To rent a car, you must be over 23 years of age and have an international driving license issued at least one year before the rental. Some companies reduce the age limit to 21 and accept national license. The distance on the island is small, and from Port Louis to the main cities can be easily reached in 30-45 minutes.
You must rent a car not older than four years: the year of issue is usually the last two digits of the number.
Taxis can be taken at or near the airport. The cost of the trip should be agreed in advance: most taxi drivers do not have counters. The cost of the trip is in average of 30 MUR per kilometer, while long-distance travel is reduced. For short distance travel it is quite expensive kind of transport, but renting a taxi for the whole day is much cheaper: from 3500 MUR you can thoroughly consider the whole beauty of the island.
