Sunny and cheerful Spain awaits tourists on the Mediterranean beach, ski resorts and winter holidays in Tenerife. Entertainment and attractions from Madrid to Canary, from Dali to Gaudi, from Real to Barca – all about Spain.

Information about Spain

“I need Spain” is the slogan of the National Tourism Office of Spain, and this statement will not be accepted unless only by a hardened selfish person. First of all we need beautiful sandy beaches of the best resort in Spain Canary. Second of all  we need the world’s most delicious ham and paradise ragweed – sangria (how else to glorify Spain, if not with a glass in your hand!). Third of all we definitely need nockout of castanets and heels, swirls of polka dots and passionate cantor flamenco bunnies that Spain gave to the world. We really need all these phantasmagorias, like clockworks and flowing gutters (oh, Spain is a big trick). Add here all the nice little things, like inexpensive but quite serious skiing, a variety of nightlife and the opportunity to buy things from the podium at an outlet price – Spain is unreasonably proud of the biggest and cheapest shopping. An additional bonus that Spain has carefully prepared for tourists – a visa here requires a “public” Schengen, which allows you to go for a day or two to neighbors in Europe.

Hotels in Spain

In Spain, there are no uniform state rules for the classification of hotels in the country: each region solves this issue locally. Hotels in Spanish resorts are mostly urban, have no private beaches and are located in small towns with many shops, bars, restaurants and discos. The use of swimming pools and sun beds in the vast majority of hotels is free of charge. Another popular option is to rent a villa: for large companies the cost may be even lower than in hotel rooms, and the comfort level is an order of magnitude higher.

Under the “excursion” usually there are hotels 2-3* in the city center, food – breakfast (often continental) plus dinner. In ski resorts, on the contrary, high-level hotels, mainly with half board (buffet). Beach resorts also include all-inclusive hotels. The cost of daily rent in Barcelona – from 50 EUR for an apartment for two, from 60-80 EUR for a double room in a three-star hotel and from 77 EUR in a four-star hotel.

Spanish cuisine and restaurants

There is the cult of food in Spain- many restaurants and eateries offer taverns to join the cuisine and wines of Spain. In addition to national dishes, some cafes have an Italian, Mexican and Asian menu. In addition, there are a large number of regional cuisines in the country, which are markedly different from one another.

There are international networking cafes – McDonald’s, KFS, WOK TO WOLK. For a reasonable price snack with national sandwiches can be found in fast food establishments 100 montaditos. A good way to save on food is to use a business lunch. In Spanish, it is called “Menu del dia” and is offered from 12:00 to 16:00 in almost every restaurant. For the same price of 10-15 EUR you can dine in Chinese restaurants, which prepare not only Asian dishes, but also ordinary European food – fresh and good quality. Many cafes operate on a buffet basis without limiting the number of approaches.

The most famous Spanish dish – paella (rice with seafood), is also worth trying “jamon” – raw pork. Fish and seafood are quite common. From the popular Catalan white wines “Penedes” and “Ampurdana”, “Jerez” from the city of Jerez de la Frontera in the southwest of Andalusia is considered to be the pride of the country, and the Canary out of lanzarote grapes produces excellent semi-sweet wine “Malvasia”.

Air

It is very convenient to travel to the regions of Spain, the long-distance transport is well developed here. Spain is considered to be a large (by European, of course, standards) country, which is why it has developed domestic aviation. Airports are available in virtually every major city: Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Granada, Valencia, Alicante, Seville, Cordoba, Bilbao, Zaragoza. The cheapest flights are offered by Vueling, which is considered to be the main low cost carrier in the Spanish market.

Train

The state-owned company RENFE is responsible for all rail transportation in the country, including passenger. Trains in the country are of several types, the most comfortable and fast – AVE, they run mainly between Madrid and Barcelona or Madrid and Seville. “Talgo” – fast trains, “Expresso” – passenger, “Tervia” or “Automotor” – trains of local importance. In addition, Spanish trains are considered worthy competitors of buses when moving at a distance of medium range.

Bus

An extensive network of bus routes covers almost all cities and resort centers of the country. The fare depends on the season, day of the week, time of day and distance of the trip.

Public transport in cities

Public transport in Spain is served by subways, buses, taxis, local and long distance trains. Transportation is scheduled. The fare in the subway and bus is the same. Trains are worthy competitors of buses when moving in the distance of medium range. Not only are they twice as cheap, but in many cases noticeably faster.

The cost of public transportation in the regions varies from EUR 1.5 to EUR 2.20. The conditions of purchase and use of tickets also differ. However, it is much more profitable to buy a travel ticket with a long-term stay. If you have to travel by bus, it makes sense to buy combination tickets. They give the right of way also in the subway and on the tram. A fine for a ticketless ride is about 100 EUR. The controller can sell a ticket only if there were no cash desks and terminals at the stop where you get a transport.

Car rent in Spain

To rent a car in Spain, you need to show your passport and international driver license. Some companies require the driver to be at least 21 or 23 years old and have their driving license issued at least one or two years ago. The cost of rent ranges from 50-150 EUR per day. Often companies require a deposit (sometimes equal to the value of the entire rental) or a credit card.

It is not necessary to save on cars rent by going to small, unknown places of rent: calculate and “inflate” in 99% of cases.

All roads in the country are in very good condition and are mostly free of charge. You only need to pay for the use of freeways (autopistas, marked with an “A” on a blue background).
