Travel across Berlin

from 200€

Listing all the sights and attractions of Berlin is very difficult. This is one of the most fun, lively and comfortable cities in Europe. Young people enjoy local clubs, where the most fashionable parties are organized, new styles, movements, subcultures are emerging. Older people respect shopping in Berlin – the quantity and quality of local shopping centers is famous throughout the continent. And the prices, by the way, are considered very, very nice.

Information about Berlin

Representatives of sexual minorities are delighted with the German capital – they are happy here. In the summer, they sunbathe in Tiergarten, periodically arrange loud and bright love-parades and generally they make themselves at at home. Finally, art fans may not enjoy some of the city’s unique architecture (just as the World War II has left a significant legacy in the form of rubble and ruins), but collections of Berlin’s museums and galleries are just beyond praise.

Berlin hotels

There are several tourist areas in Berlin with many hotels. And each has at least one five-star hotel and several budget hotels. For example, the western districts of Charlottenburg or Kurfurstendamm, where the Savoy, Kempinski and Steingenbergen hotels are situated. At the same time, it is quite realistic to find cheap hotels, hostels and B&B (Bed and Breakfast) if you turn from the central streets into the lanes.

Instead, multi-star giants of international hotel chains began to appear in the eastern part of the city after the fall of the Wall. Therefore, today in the west it is easier to find a small private hotel or boarding house with a cozy atmosphere, while in the east of Berlin, similar institutions are in short supply. For example, the Adlon Hotel (Charlie Chaplin and Albert Einstein stayed here) and the Hotel de Rome, an embodiment of luxury and style.

Transfer to and a walk through Berlin

Getting to Berlin

There are two international airports – Schönefeld and Tegel. Previously (until 2008), the third one was Tempelhof, but now it has been transformed into a cultural object and a platform for various installations.

The most convenient way to get to the German capital from Ukraine is to use direct flights from Kiev and Lviv from UIA, WizzAir or Ryanair. A little more difficult option is to get to Poland, and from there with the same lowkosters. Getting there by bus or train is way more complicated and much longer, but a great option for those who are afraid of flying.

Transport in Berlin

Berlin’s transport includes subway and underground, buses, trams and river ferries. The same travel tickets are used: Kurzstrecke for 1.70 EUR – the cheapest, valid for 3 metro stops or 6 bus or tram connections; Einzelfahrausweis (2,80 EUR) – two-hour travel for any type of transport; Single-Tageskarte (7 EUR) – travel for one day per person, Partner-Tageskarte (19,90 EUR) – for one day for group up to 5 persons, 7-Tage-Karte (30 EUR) – per week, Monatskarte Standard (81 EUR) – per month. The ticket is not required to be thrown away by the end of the trip – controllers appear frequently and the fine is 40 EUR. Children under 6 years (incl. stroller) use transport free of charge, from 6 to 14 years old – at discounted rates

Taxi

Finding a taxi in Berlin is not a problem – you can catch it directly on the street (which means the official taxi), get to the parking lot, they are all marked with special signs, or ask to book at the reception or waiter at the restaurant. Fare 3.40 EUR per boarding, then about 1.80 EUR for the next 7 km, and 1.30 EUR for each kilometer after these seven.
